Background

  • Grid Connection of 1-20MW to KPX

According to the Korea Power Exchange (KPX) power market operation rules, solar, wind, and fuel cell generators exceeding 1MW but not exceeding 20MW connected to transmission lines (192kV or higher TL on the mainland, 22.9kV or higher TL in Jeju) must install renewable data acquisition devices.*

    * Please refer to Annex 32 of the KPX power market operation rules for procedures on grid operation and management of wind, solar, and fuel cell generators.

  • KPX Market Integration for VPP Resources Under 20MW

Dispatchable VPP in Jeju with resources of a capacity of 20MW or less must use renewable data acquisition devices to communicate with the KPX. Refer to Chapter 16 of the KPX power market operation rules for guidelines on the power market system improvement and Jeju pilot project operation rules.

Interconnection Process

Interconnection to 154kV (22.9kV in Jeju) TL for Plants of Capacity of 20MW or Less

  • 01

    Register an account for KPX

  • 02

Register as a market participant and update plant facility

  • 03

    Install Renewable Data Acquisition Device

  • 04

    Seal Metering Equipment

    Commercial Operation

  • After registering a power plant with the Korea Power Exchange (KPX), order a renewable data acquisition device. Our field engineering team will install the device and conduct communication tests on-site. (Please note that installation may take approximately 2 weeks after placing the order.) Once the device is installed, a generator code will be issued, and you can schedule the sealing of the metering equipment.
  • We coordinate with KPX to conduct real-time data acquisition and control tests of the plants in line with your generator operation schedule, and we will support the issuance of a confirmation letter upon completion of the tests. After the control test is successfully completed, you will receive the 'Initial Grid Connection Approval Letter' for commercial operation.
